01 The short answer
To get super glue out of a quartz countertop, work in this order: (1) let it harden, then lift; (2) lift the excess. On a quartz countertop, skip acetone or nail polish remover: quartz makers generally advise against solvents like acetone on the resin. For fully cured, cool adhesive only.
This may be difficult to remove. Repeated treatment can damage the item; a persistent mark is a reason to consult a professional.
02 Never do this
- Acetone or nail polish remover. Quartz makers generally advise against solvents like acetone on the resin.
- Pulling it off. Cured glue can take fibres (or skin) with it.
- Scouring powder or pads. They dull the polished resin surface, and dull spots hold stains.
03 Before you start
- Use white cloths or paper towels only: coloured ones can transfer their own dye into a quartz countertop.
- Check the exact surface and finish manufacturer's care guide for permitted products.
- Pretest every permitted treatment on an inconspicuous area, including trims, and let it dry. Stop for colour transfer, lightening, rings, stiffness or distortion. A successful spot test does not guarantee the whole item is safe.
04 The method
Let it harden, then lift
Let the super glue harden fully, then lift it with a plastic scraper or fingernail, working in from the edge. Any thin film left can be softened with a hair dryer on low and peeled.
Why it works: On this surface the solvent that dissolves it would also dissolve the surface.

Lift the excess
For fully cured, cool adhesive only. Do not wipe uncured super glue with cotton, wool or paper; stop garment treatment if it is hot, smoking or bonded to skin. Lift any thick or raised blobs with a plastic scraper or an old bank card, never a metal blade on stone. Then wipe the area with a damp paper towel.
Why it works: Removing the bulk first means the cleaner only has to deal with what has soaked in.

Rinse and dry
For fully cured, cool adhesive only. Do not wipe uncured super glue with cotton, wool or paper; stop garment treatment if it is hot, smoking or bonded to skin. Rinse with clean water and dry with a microfiber cloth.
Why it works: Residue on quartz shows as a dull film.

05 Dried, set, or back again?
This may be difficult to remove. Repeated treatment can damage the item; a persistent mark is a reason to consult a professional.
Assess the mark only once the item has dried according to its care instructions. If it remains, do not keep repeating or strengthening treatment; obtain advice for the exact material and product.
06 What super glue is made of
- Polymer
Super glue is a polymer: long molecules that set into a film or a sticky mass. Each one needs either its own solvent or a change of state, freezing or softening, rather than scrubbing.
- Super glue (cyanoacrylate) cures by reacting with moisture, including the water in the air and on fabric, which is why it grabs cotton so fast.
- A large drop on cotton can get hot enough to burn: the reaction with cotton fibres releases heat.
- Acetone dissolves cured super glue, but it also dissolves acetate fabrics, plastics and wood finishes.
07 The material: quartz countertop
It tolerates hot water (up to about 60 °C (140 °F)) for the final wash, but only after any protein has been rinsed out cold.
What this file leaves out because of the material:
- Acetone or nail polish remover. Quartz makers generally advise against solvents like acetone on the resin.
- Engineered quartz and related mineral surfaces combine mineral particles with a binder; composition varies by product. Follow the maker instructions for the actual surface and finish.
- The resin is the weak point: hot pans, strong solvents and strong alkalis can discolour it permanently.
The quartz countertop file rates every common cleaner for it.
08 Next time
Use super glue according to its label, on a protected surface away from fabric. Keep uncured glue away from cotton, wool and paper because rapid curing can release enough heat to burn.
09 Questions
Can I use hot water on super glue on a quartz countertop?
Warm water helps here once the first steps are done; stay within the care label (up to 60 °C (140 °F)) and check the stain has gone before any dryer.
Does vinegar help with super glue on a quartz countertop?
It is not needed for super glue. Vinegar is a mild acid that helps with tannin and mineral residue; super glue responds better to the steps above.
Can I use bleach on super glue?
Not chlorine bleach on quartz countertop: quartz makers warn that bleach can discolour the resin.
Will super glue come out of a quartz countertop completely?
This may be difficult to remove. Repeated treatment can damage the item; a persistent mark is a reason to consult a professional.
When should I call a professional?
Burn marks from hot pans, which are damage to the resin rather than stains.
